Growing Instructions
Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours to improve germination rate. In your propagator use a well-draining potting mix, ideally a blend of peat-moss, sand, and perlite or compost. Sow each seed about 1/4 inch (6mm) deep and lightly covered with the potting mix. Sow seeds at least 2 inches apart. Place in a sunny location between 21–29°C, not allowing temperatures to drop below 15°C. Cover the containers
with a clear plastic lid or plastic wrap to help retain moisture and warmth. Keep the soil consistently moist
but do not waterlog. Germination should be 2–4 weeks.
The Jacaranda needs a lot of light and the temperatures should not fall under 15° C / 59° F. Especially when they are planted in a bonsai pot, Jacaranda trees must be protected from lower temperatures. Container grown jacaranda trees will need to be planted in 20l or larger pots filled with a sandy loam potting mix. Excellent draining soil is essential to the health and vigour of potted jacarandas. The soil should be kept moist, but not soggy, throughout the active growing season.
