OTHER: Roseroot Stonecrop is a very cold hardy succulent plant that hails from the Arctic regions of of Europe, Britain, Asia, & North America. The plants are able to tolerate a variety of soils including heavy clay, sandy, or rocky, & are also tolerant of drought & coastal conditions. This Stonecrop can be used as a groundcover, an alpine & rock garden plant, as a border, or in a container. Whichever you choose, you will want to plant it somewhere you will get to see it beautiful rosettes & lovely flower clusters that attract bees & butterflies.
Aside from being grown as a nice ornamental plant, Roseroot is also grown for its root’s medicinal properties. Its yellow roots are rose-scented, hence the name, & have long been used in traditional medicine. From Wikipedia: “About 140 chemical compounds are in the subterranean portions of R. rosea. Rhodiola roots contain phenols, rosavin, rosin, rosarin, organic acids, terpenoids, phenolcarbonic acids and their derivatives, flavonoids, anthraquinones, alkaloids, tyrosol, and salidroside.”
