~ Sowing ~

When to Start Inside: Not typically recommended, as sunflowers prefer direct sowing outdoors.

When to Start Outside: Direct sow seeds in the garden after the last frost when the soil has warmed.

Sowing Instructions: Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep in well-drained soil.

Planting Depth: Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep.

Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, then water regularly to maintain growth.

Light and Temperature: Autumn Beauty Sunflowers thrive in full sun and warm temperatures, ideally between 70-85°F (21-29°C).

Germination: Seeds typically germinate in 7-14 days under optimal conditions.

~ Transplanting Seedlings Outdoors ~

Timing: Direct sowing is preferred, but if started indoors, transplant seedlings outdoors after the danger of frost has passed and when they have developed at least two sets of true leaves.

Location: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil.

Spacing: Space plants 18-24 inches apart to allow for adequate air circulation and growth.

Transplanting: Handle seedlings carefully to avoid disturbing their roots. Water well after transplanting to help establish the plants.

~ Growing ~

Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry periods, to ensure consistent growth and flowering.

Fertilizing: Apply a balanced fertilizer or compost at planting time and again as the plants begin to flower.

Pest and Disease Management: Autumn Beauty Sunflowers are generally pest-resistant but may attract pests like aphids or caterpillars. Monitor plants regularly and use organic pest control methods if necessary.

Maintenance: Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming and maintain a tidy appearance in the garden.

~ Harvesting ~

When to Harvest: Harvest flowers when they are fully open for the best color and vase life.

How to Harvest: Use sharp scissors or garden shears to cut the stems at the desired length, ideally in the morning when the plants are fully hydrated.

Drying and Storing: Autumn Beauty Sunflowers are best used fresh as cut flowers. For dried arrangements, hang stems upside down in a cool, dark, and dry place until fully dried.

~ Seed Saving ~

Allow some flowers to go to seed. Once the seed heads have dried, collect the seeds and store them in a cool, dry place for future planting.

Good light. Minor flaws.
Style: 180 Lumens
Good light, only flaws is that it didn't come in a box. It was just in a clear plastic bag. And batteries were not included.

Puts out a lot of light!
Style: 220 Lumens
I had to have an explosion proof light, and this one puts out an amazing amount of light! On flood light ( second push of button) it lights up an amazing amount of area around you. The spotlight will hit a tree in my back yard while standing in the front yard. Very impressive!

Very useful if you don't want to explode!
Style: 90 Lumens
Found the unit a bit difficult to adjust on the hard hat but got it dial in eventually. Also impacted by the need to mount goggles on the helmet, that might be rare, but this was my situation working around chemicals. nice and bright. batteries last a couple of days with intermittent use approx. 3.5hrs a day. A bit of a pain to unscrew the cover on batteries but that's the nature of the beast to make sure no sparks escape. Would highly recommend the product. Most other comparable products are around double the price. BTW, the packaging looked like the driver dropped it on the road and ran over it a couple times...but it still worked. UPDATE #1: After a few months of usage, the height adjustment is starting to fail. As I walk, the light begins to droop until it's shining down in front of me. Dissappointed that the adjustment didn't last longer. I might be able to discover a way to lock it back in, but have not taken the time to examine the mechanism yet. UPDATE #2 9-2018: The adjustment problem has now reach its ultimate end. The hinge on bottom has basically disintegrated. Now, when I put batteries in and tighten the screw, the bottom hinge pops loose. The product is no longer usable. The hinge is just cheap plastic, that is a shame, I kind of expected better from nightstick. However, it still seems to be the best option vs. price available so I am planning to order it again. Hope I can get 3 years of intermittent use out of the next one. I do really like it when it is working...lite and bright.
