The porosity of Perlite is one of the most beneficial aspects of this natural soil additive. When growing plants in containers the idea is to imitate natural soil and ground conditions where the plant grows best. Typical soil additives will compact and suppress air flow within containers, opposite of what naturally occurs underground. Adding Perlite to your potting mix will alleviate stress on growing roots and enhance the soils ability to drain.

The organic sphagnum peat moss retains moisture and inhibits bacterial growth, which is crucial when nursing young or vulnerable plants. It reduces shock which is crucial when re-potting seedlings.
Watering: Soak moss in distilled water only. There is a lot more material here than in that course, and it is well laid-out and organized so that it is easy to roam around and come back to review the pieces that matter to you. Even if you plan to go to on to be a world-class Deep Learning engineer or mathematician, you have to start by understanding the concepts. And this book does a great job of presenting all the core ideas in a way that makes them clear and memorable.
