Unusual, Dark Foliage that's So Easy to Grow!

Want to add something unique to your indoor houseplant collection? The Sansevieria Black Coral plant is the right plant for you!

One of the easiest house plants to grow, the Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Black Coral’ is a different colored variety of the Variegated Snake Plant. Snake plants thrive on neglect so even the blackest of thumbs can keep this indoor plant alive and thriving!

The long, slender leaves of the Sansevieria Black Coral are what makes them unique and give the plant the nickname of Mother in Laws Tongue. The zebra like stripes are dark green and black in color and have a gray green wavy appearance. The lower the light, the darker the black colored stripes appear.

There are many Black Coral Snake Plant benefits! Snake plants are known for their air purifying qualities; they produce oxygen to clean the air while reducing air pollutants. It is the perfect house plant to have in your home, office, bedroom, bathroom, or sunroom. You can even plant Black Coral plants outdoors in the proper growing zones!

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF SNAKE PLANTS INDOORS

Care of a snake plant is easy! They can tolerate a variety of light conditions including bright light or low light but they thrive in part sun to partial shade in bright indirect light. Full sun may scorch the sword shaped leaves and cause leaf burn.

Sansevieria soil should be very well draining. Avoid wet soil as this can cause root rot. Make sure to choose a container with a drainage hole and do not overwater. A regular potting soil such as our Snake Plant Soil or Organic Potting Mix would be the best.

The Black Coral Snake Plant's mature size is up to 1-2 feet tall and up to 1 foot wide at full maturity. They will grow to their container’s size and will eventually need to be repotted. We recommend repotting every 2-3 years as needed. Fertilizing snake plants is not necessary but will help the plant growth during the active growing season.

Snake plants are grown as indoor houseplants in temperate climates. They can be grown outdoors in USDA growing zones 9-11 where the weather is warm all year long. Water the air purifying plant whenever the soil feels dry to touch, usually about once a week. They are drought tolerant so be sure to check the soil’s moisture levels before watering.

Excellent Handbook!
Format: Paperback
This is a great book for anyone from beginner to seasoned activist. Kazu Haga breaks down Kingian Nonviolence and other justice and healing modalities in a way that makes them very accessible to a wide array of readers. I plan to give this to several elder activists - and my 14 year old niece. Haga breaks down the Six Principles of Kingian Nonviolence, Restorative Justice/Practices (RP), separates & defines four types of conflict as well as other clarifying enumerations of large concepts. As an RP practitioner, I found his handling of restorative work to be excellent, and I found the Kingian principles revelatory and beautiful. Kingian Nonviolence dispels the myth that nonviolence is passivity "Nonviolence is not about what not to do. It is about what you are going to do", and has clear steps toward justice and conflict work that have proven efficacy. Haga's handling of nuance and contradiction is unique and powerful, as well as his personal approach to understanding alternate perspectives (listening to right wing radio on regular basis - with an open mind -for instance). More than one thing can be true at the same time, we can expand to hold contradiction, and still seek accountability and healing. The clarity of why shaming and punishment doesn't work for preventing future harm, or healing harm that has occurred is present not only in the concepts in the book, but his personal experience via years of offering trainings in prisons. There is still a lot of resistance to RP and nonviolent approaches to harm - especially in Law Enforcement and Corrections, and I think the accessibility and clarity in this book are useful to help naysayers possibly see the light of why these healing and justice practices ultimately protect us all.
