Care

Seeds should be sown in prepared, well-drained soil in either spring or fall. Lightly rake the seeds into the soil surface and water regularly to maintain moisture. During establishment, consistent watering is recommended for 4-6 weeks. The seeds do not require fertilization but thrive with supplemental compost. The seed mix is not treated with chemicals; store in a cool, dry place for optimal longevity. For best results, follow regional planting guidelines and avoid overwatering to prevent seed rot.

Wildflower establishment requires some important steps:

Site selection/preparation: It's important to address competition from weeds: pull, till, or use organic herbicides. If planting in the spring/summer you can wait for weeds to germinate, control and then plant the wildflower seeds.
Seeding:  You will want to have good seed to soil contact, broadcasting by hand is a good approach on small plot, may want to mix with an inert carrier, sand or other. Raking in and covering with soil 2-3 times seed thickness.

Watering: During establishment for the first month, can be from rain in spring or supplement with irrigation.

Timing: The best time to plant is in spring to early summer and even again in late fall.

The content in this series is good, but the presentation is in need of a proofreader. There are so many typos and wrong words (ignoring that it's UK English). It's like the author typed what he heard in his head, but the words are something different. For example, a section introduces the "Package Manager," which is then inconsistently called the "Packet Manager." Or "research term" instead of "search term." Or "PlayGround" in the text when it's clearly "playground" in the figure. Even the provided resources are misspelled: "Sdandard Assets" in the code and the screenshots in the book. How does this go unnoticed? Programming isn't tolerant of these things.

I really like Pat's approach to learn Unity. I'm working my way through his books, just finish this one (second in the series). I've tried to learn Unity in the past and fail and now I know why. Pat's walks you from the beginning, you learn how to build games from a blank canvas and putting all pieces together. It's a step by step approach so you are never wondering how to get to a certain stage. If you are new to Unity and Programming strongly suggest you starting with book 1 "foundation" and then move to this one.
