Buena Vista is an English lavender known for its extended bloom season and generous flower production. While many English lavenders finish early, this variety continues flowering into late summer and often early fall, providing color and fragrance well after others have faded.
Plants grow with a more open, airy structure, sending up numerous flower stems that gently spray outward. The effect is relaxed and abundant rather than tight and formal, making Buena Vista especially appealing in garden beds and larger plantings.
The flowers are a rich violet with a strong, classic lavender fragrance. Because of its long season and high productivity, Buena Vista is widely used for essential oil production, but it performs just as well in home gardens for cutting, drying, and culinary use.
It’s a variety we return to for its reliability, long bloom window, and true English lavender character.
