A museum worthy masterpiece by one of my favorite vintage designers. This 1960's James Galanos color block cocktail dress is executed in 3 layers of silk chiffon in oyster and olive — a color pairing that reads as ultra sophisticated rather than decorative. The sheer bateau-neck bodice floats over a boned structured bodice, its edges finished with a thin olive silk cord that traces the neckline, cap sleeves, and deep open back. The full skirt is knife-pleated throughout, anchored at the hem by a bold olive green panel. Three layers of silk chiffon make up the skirt which is then lined with a silk crepe. Closure is a concealed back zip with a column of four self-covered buttons at the bodice opening — an exceedingly elegant detail. Fully lined interior with couture level finishing. In overall excellent condition, freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
