Vintage 1930s Beaded Trompe L'oeil Formal Dress

Features: This late 1930's gown features an off the shoulder neckline adorned with a beaded trompe l'oeil bow motif. This illusion style is uncommonly seen, and was originally popularized by Elsa Schiaparelli in the late 1920's in the form of a knit sweater.

This dress has deco pleats below the bust, helping the dress to be more fitted. The skirt is tapered and slightly longer at the back. The back of the skirt is gathered and also features a bow bustle. There is a metal side zip.

Condition: In excellent vintage condition. I darned two little spots where a few threads were missing under the arms but hadn't quite formed a hole (The warp threads where still there but a few of the weft threads were missing). I just wanted to make sure it was reenforced, see picture. The fabric and beadwork is strong, clean and durable. There is no bead loss.
