This dress is designed to grow with your young lady. The bodice has a wide, slightly gathered, neckline, which can be adjusted as the girl develops. The skirt is designed in tiers, allowing for lengthening and additions as required. For younger girls, the two-tiered option works well. The skirt has a drawstring back, hidden under the Medici Styled belt, allowing for waist increases. As the mother of a young lady, I planned this pattern with growth in mind. Children’s clothes are expensive enough, without having to replace outfits each year. The outfit can be dressed up or down as the occasion requires. Sleeves can be added to the dress using any of the sleeves in TSB-132 Ball Gown Sleeve Options Pattern.

Sizing:

The pattern is designed in four sizes:
Small ( Bust 26-28 inches)
Medium (Bust 28-30 inches)
Large (Bust 32-34 inches)
X-large (Bust 36-38 inches)

All sizes are included in the pattern.

I suggest using one size larger than the current measurements require to allow for growth.

Suggested Fabrics and Trims:
Your choice of fabrics will depend on how “fancy” you want your dress. I suggest using 100% cotton for the younger ladies as they can be easily laundered. The flounces hang best if the fabric is not too stiff. Instead of fancy fabrics, the outfit can be dressed up using laces and trims. The pattern lends itself to small prints, dots, stripes and solids. Large prints tend to overpower the lines of the garment.

Pattern Requirements:
The amount of fabric will depend on the number of tiers and the size of the dress.
7-8 yards of 45” fashion fabric
2– 3 yards of lining fabric—can be simple white muslin
Fine cord for piping and gathering the neckline
Plastic canvas and felt
Desired laces for trim
