Cossack Pineapple ground cherry is an heirloom variety introduced into the United States from Russia by Ukrainian immigrants in the late 1800s. The Cossack Pineapple ground cherry gets its name from its pineapple flavour and lemon colour. Naturally high in pectin, they make excellent preserves and pies as well.
Cossack Pineapples are one of the few varieties of ground cherries that are still grown commercially. They are most commonly found in farmers' markets and specialty stores. Cossack Pineapples are frost-tender annual plants.
Sow in spring & summer at 4mm deep, 50cm apart. Germination in 2-4 weeks at 21-28°C. Maturity in 80 days
