Stocking ThorpyFX pedals has honestly been a dream of mine, one of those brands I have really admired and hoped I could stock one day, and I'm so proud to say that has finally happened!

ThorpyFX is a family run business located in Brackley, England. The team is made up of Adrian and Georgia steering the boat. They've since been joined by a small team of designers (including Dan Coggins formerly of Lovetone fame), two full time in house pedal builders, a few PCB builders in house and remote, plus the lovely ladies who load enclosures, polish and shine ready to ship, and parcel up to head to your front door. 

The Electric Lightning

THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING has two sides: a complex valve overdrive with 3 band Eq and a high headroom super clean boost on the right. The pedal is designed so that the boost runs into the valve overdrive side. This arrangement yields three distinct tonal variations ranging from clean boost all the way through to full and fat saturation. The pedal is designed to clean up impeccably from your volume control and as such it is ideal for dynamic players who like to constantly adjust their playing style.

After multiple years of development and a solid year of road testing and we are here, the worst kept secret in the pedal world is now revealed. ThorpyFx and Chris Buck have collaborated to deliver a signature Valve overdrive and Boost. Designed with Chris in mind, the ELECTRIC LIGHTNING delivers a dynamic overdrive that retains clarity and articulation all the way up to the upper reaches of the gain pot. The drive is equipped with a 3 band EQ for control over the tonality no matter what amp/guitar combo you use. The boost is a familiar high headroom boost but tailored to Chris’s needs it can be used to fatten up cleans or give extra saturation to the valve overdrive section.

Unlike many other signature products, the ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is designed specifically not to be a “one trick pony” Both Chris and Thorpy wanted it to be an awesome effect pedal regardless of your playing style and as such, you can craft the ELECTRIC LIGHTNING to your style for maximum satisfaction. To ensure consistency, reliability, low noise and tonal supremacy the ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is made with extremely high quality components. 1% metalfilm resistors, WIMA and Panasonic capacitors where possible and robust through hole plated PCB’S. In short, all of this means you won’t have to worry about your pedal and it should give you many years of inspiring tonal bliss.

How to control it

VOLUME: Use this control to increase the volume output of the drive side of pedal.
GAIN: This control is used to increase the level of drive available on the drive side of the pedal, everything from lightly crispy through to heavier sounds is available here.
BASS: This control gives allows you massive amounts of control over the bass response of the drive. Clockwise yields bass rich sounds. A little can go a long way, the EQ is powerful enough to cope with most backlines of varying EQ character.
MIDS: This control gives allows you massive amounts of control over the mids response of the drive. Clockwise yields mids focused sounds. A little can go a long way, the EQ is powerful enough to cope with most backlines of varying EQ character.
TREBLE: This control gives allows you massive amounts of control over the treble response of the drive. Clockwise yields treble focused sounds. A little can go a long way, the EQ is powerful enough to cope with most backlines of varying EQ character.
BOOST: This control gives you control to boost or attenuate your signal, use it on its own as part of the boost side of the pedal or when stacked into the drive it can really make the pedal sing with complex harmonics and layered overdrive.
LOWS: This control gives you control to add low end to the boost side of the pedal and fatten up your signal for crystal clear but fat clean sounds.

LEFT FOOTSWITCH: This turns the drive side on/off.
RIGHT FOOTSWITCH: This turns the boost side on/off.

Specs/Power

THE ELECTRIC LIGHTNING is designed to work at voltages of 12V DC. On power up, the inrush current can be as high as 700mA settling to 280-300mA during use. This should be provided from the supplied centre negative power supply. However, if your boards power supply can provide the requisite voltage and current requirements you can. Do not attempt to use this pedal with other voltages or polarities, the pedal can at best just not start up (limp mode) or at worst you can damage the sensitive internal electrics. Please be aware it takes a short period of time at first power up for the valve to heat to optimum level and begin working.

Local pickup - If you are local and wish to collect any items or order in advance for collection on a specific day, then you can still place an order online and select local pickup at the checkout. Or drop me a message and I'll reserve the items ready for your visit.
For online ordering and dispatch - In stock, non made to order items are processed and dispatched 4 days a week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.
For orders that are placed on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday I have an order cut off time of 14:00GMT (with Royal Mail shipping services only) to allow me chance to process, pack and dispatch your order same day.
For non dispatch days (Saturday, Sunday, & Thursday) there is no order cut-off time, and these will be processed, packed and shipped on the closest following dispatch day.
I will always endeavor to fulfill orders as quickly as I can and if you have specific requirements for a delivery date please do let me know and hopefully I can help.
