Turmeric, Curcuma longa, Organic
History / Habitat and Distribution: Turmeric is native to the rainforests of southeast Asia. It is a perennial herbaceous plant in the ginger family Zingiberaceae. The tuberous rhizomes, or underground stems, have been used since antiquity as a spice, a condiment, a textile dye, a perfume, and medically as an aromatic stimulant.
Description: The turmeric plant grows to three feet and has beautiful oblong dark green leaves that are about five inches wide. The translucent white, yellow and maroon spike-like flower stalks are so beautiful it’s worth growing turmeric just for the flowers let alone the other ornamental, culinary, nutritional and healing properties of Curcuma longa.
Cultivation: Grow turmeric as annual in climates colder than zone 8, or a winter hardy perennial in zones 8 and higher. Turmeric is also easily grown in a container and moved to protection for those who wish to grow as a perennial in climates colder than zone 8. Turmeric grows best with morning sun, some afternoon shade and moist soil that has been amended with organic matter. Turmeric prolifically produces rhizomes that are ready for harvest in late fall or early winter. It's easy to know when to harvest your turmeric root, it's ready when the leaves die back and the plant goes dormant. As a perennial, turmeric dies back during winter freezes but will return reliably in late spring. No serious insect or disease problems with Curcuma longa. It's an easy and reliable grower!
Comments: Turmeric has a number of well-known uses including culinary (the ingredient in the distinctive taste and yellow-orange color in curry powder), medicinal (claimed to help relieve pain and inflammation, clean wounds, lower blood pressure, treat liver ailments and contain Alzheimer’s disease), and dark yellow dye (food coloring and cosmetic dye, a less expensive saffron-substitute). Plant leaves are sometimes used for wrapping and cooking food. Plant flowers may be eaten as a vegetable.
With its tropical foliage, showy flowers, and many other important benefits, turmeric is a beautiful, easy and very useful addition to any garden.

Not Boerboel proof
I have a terrible time finding toys for my 10 month old Boerboel. Either she ignores it or tears it up immediately.
She likes this toy (jumbo size) and actually chewed on it for 20 min. Bad side is she chewed a hole.
It lasted longer than any of the other fairly chewy toys I've tried. She doesn't like the hard chews.

Favorite Toy

My dog is a 3.5 yr old mix and this toy has been her favorite toy by far for three years. She likes it as a squeak toy, loves it as a tug toy and can't live without it as fetch toy. I roll it on its edge outside and she chases it - sometimes it take cool bounces or swerves and sometimes its just rolls straight and fast and whatever it does she can't get enough of it. She demands we play fetch with it at least three times a day. She's not a great releaser of fetch toys so there's plenty of tugging play involved too. We've had three of these over three years, but she's 75 pounds of muscle and it gets a work out every day so it's a really tough toy. All dogs are different, so I don't know what your dog will think, but it's been a fantastic toy for our girl.

So Bad

Had high hopes for this toy as Kong is fantastic with aggressive chewers as or Lulu is. This toy didn't last 30 minutes before she was able to tear it apart. The rubber and plastic are not of the same quality on nearly all there other toys she has. Have found better toys for half the cost. Kong needs to do better.

Best toys for active dogs

Very cute, good quality

Our Two year-old Great Pyrenees rescue loves her Lambchop. She’s fairly gentle with it, but it did accidentally rip so we had replace it since she loves it so much. No fault of the product. The product is very well made, She just got a little rough with it.
