As the gravel industry rapidly grows, BMC wanted nothing more than to take the lead. The URS 01 is their boldest feat of all-terrain engineering and certainly has a case for the top spot. This elite gravel bike is incredibly light and comes with race ready speed in addition to all-terrain compliance. With textbook BMC integration, precision, and a gravel-specific geometry, this bike is limitless and a ton of fun to ride. Compared to other gravel bikes, BMC says that you can expect a smoother and more comfortable ride on varied terrain. The URS is stable at the highest speeds with a bit of extra shock response to accommodate your back-road explorations.

The BMC URS 01 frame is made of BMC’s 01 Premium Carbon. This material is incredibly lightweight and stiff for a feel similar to that of an elite road bike. The geometry of this frame is optimized for the modern aggressive riding style of today’s gravel riders. BMC Gravel+ Geometry includes a top tube with a 70-degree slack angle for a longer front end and a longer wheelbase. This helps synergize the lightweight and aggressive road bike feel of the URS with the addition of stability you need on off-road courses. The top tube also features a mount for bolt-on top tube bags and accessories. URS stands for UnReStricted and the frame is built to rip away any limitations.

Despite its fast and aggressive frame, the BMC URS also has excellent compliance thanks to its Micro Travel Technology (MTT). This lightweight minimalist suspension adds 10mm of rear travel for confident control on challenging terrain and descents along with great power transfer. BMC’s Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC) provides the highest level of compliance through a dedicated carbon layup that is as stiff as it is comfortable. This version of the TCC is specifically geared toward gravel racing, for a higher level of compliance than BMC road bikes. Topped off with a D-Shaped carbon seatpost for a more comfortable position and additional compliance.

The front end of the BMC URS 01 features a versatile fork made of premium carbon with 45mm of tire clearance. This gives you plenty of room to equip tires that fit in with the type of terrain you plan on riding on a given day. It also provides a clean mounting solution for larger rotors. The carbon fork is a part of a clean integrated front end that can also accommodate a Fox 32 SC AX Suspension fork if purchased separately and replaced. The Integrated Cockpit System (ICS) has been updated for the new URS 01. It includes the MTT Suspension Stem which was developed with Redshift to add 20mm of travel at the stem for ultimate comfort. This also leads to lessened vibrations and more control of your bike. BMC aims for clean aesthetic simplicity and innovative functionality in this front end.

Integrated protection is a huge perk of the URS due to the threat of mud, rocks, and other obstacles that can bang up your frame on your more adventurous days. The fork dropouts, downtube, and chainstays all have integrated protection that stays close to the frame. These points are the most likely to receive damage, but they will be safe with these discreet protection points. To top off its high-level build, this version of the BMC URS 01 is equipped with SRAM Force eTap AXS components and a wide Eagle cassette. This combination of Force and Eagle gives you a reasonable price for a groupset that has all your bases covered. The BMC URS 01 is here to take on the best in the gravel bike market with great speed, durability, and compliance in an uncompromising package.

Ambitious universe building that starts small
Format: Kindle
Defiance of the Fall is in the Top 5 of my favorite progression fantasy stories (for reference, I think you should at least try the first book of all 5 series with the other 4 series being Primal Hunter, He Who Fights with Monsters, Azarinth Healer, and The Calamitous Bob). The scale of this series world-building is beyond any other series that comes to mind. And the crazy thing is that 16 books in, there's still a TON of room to keep building. I'm hoping the author can keep the series at this quality out to at least 30 books. The series starts out slightly slower-paced, but 16 books in I think that was a good thing as it really sets up the main character and enables a slow build up of their new existence. You learn as the MC does, and at the beginning the MC is still struggling with the basics. But as the main character progresses, that 'world' gets more and more complex and grows vastly in scope (there's a whole giant universe out there), with that complexity being the main challenge of the series. When there is 16 books worth of progress, remembering all the details can get a bit challenging. Book 16 books in, I'm still eagerly reading every book that comes out. All in all, I highly recommend this series and all of the others in my Top 5 list. If I had to round that out to a Top 10, other series I would recommend would be Paths of Akashic, Dual-Class, Grand Game, Unintended Cultivator, and A Thousand Li. None of those latter 5 are a strong as the top 5, but all are worth reading IMO.

Great LitRPG
Format: Kindle
Solid LitRPG stuff. It has all the hallmarks of the genre and they're executed well, your protagonist who starts off average and gets stronger and stronger, experiencing both great danger and great opportunity, taking risks that (usually) pay off. Where it really shines is the worldbuilding; it's a somewhat slower burn in that respect but the writing does a good job of building a coherent, intriguing world with a ton of different factions and factions within factions with their own motivations. The history of the world is legitimately interesting and being cultivation-themed gives it a unique flavor compared to many others which are more straight RPG (and there's even a good in-universe reason for this). My criticisms are fairly minor, the writing can be a bit dry or awkward on occasion "The situation clearly hinted at a situation where he would only need to...", and the universe and lore is expansive enough that it's easy to forget about some individual element on occasion. This is an overall review of the series (16 books at time of writing).

good book, needs an editor.
Format: Kindle
The premise was good, and the story arcs were good. But the actual writing style of this book left a lot to be desired. I see the author is up to book 16 as of now. Hopefully they have fixed a lot of these minor issues.

So Happy I found this
Format: Kindle
Excellent addition to the genre. On par with some of the other great series in the space and better than many I have read.
