Wilderness canvas wall tents are the same tent models we also sell sell as glamping tents, hot tents and winter tents. Our wilderness tent is very high quality and the most reinforced canvas wall tent available. That is why we use it on all canvas tent models.

THE 10 X 12 FIRE TREATED TENT WITH FRONT SCREEN DOOR HAS  MODIFICATIONS TO OUR STANDARD WILDERNESS TENTS.

Front door has an inverted /upside down T door zipper. This allows one side of the door to open while the other side remains totally closed. In this manner, the tent sod cloth stays in place on both sides of the door.  Especially beneficial if a stake in floor is used.  Water and bugs cannot enter under the front of the tent as the sod cloth  remains in place when the tent doors are open.

No vinyl corners. Reinforced canvas corners.

Adjustable heavy straps instead of stake loops around the bottom of the tent.  Adjustable straps allow tightening the stake loop as necessary instead of repositioning the stake.  Adjustable straps are very beneficial if tent is to be used on a platform.  If requested, we will provide corresponding buckles to secure tent to platform.

Storm flap door buckles are metal with adjustable straps to secure storm storm flap.  It should be noted that the storm flap is a free feature that protects the door zipper from rain and ice.

Back window is a 35" triangle with screen.

A hot tent by definition is any tent that is designed to be heated with a stove. 

All of the canvas tents offered by Wall Tent Shop are designed to be hot tents with stove.

Wall Tent Shop hot tents for sale are all made from canvas.  Most websites selling hot tents are made from a synthetic material. Canvas is much more durable and stronger than synthetic materials. The best hot tent for sale is made from canvas if you need a strong or durable tent that will be left up for long periods.

6' SIDE WALL OPTION

 Strongly recommend you ask your suppliers the finished height of side walls before purchasing a tent. Be advised that some tent companies advertise 5 foot sidewall but actual height is only 4 ' 7".

6' is a much more luxurious looking tent that many glampers purchase. Walking into a tent with 6' walls looks much bigger than a tent with standard 5' walls.

         6 Foot option only available on FIRE, water and mildew treated tents.

SIZES

Small hot tents start at 8 x 10.  Suitable for 2 people when using a stove.

Large hot tents are 16 x 24.  Suitable up to 6 people when used with a stove.

Other sizes available are 10 x 12, 12 x 14, 14 x 16 and 16 x 20.

HOT TENT WITH STOVES

Hot tent wood stoves in nylon tents that have sparks land on the roof have a very high probability of burning holes in the roof due to the nature of synthetic fabrics.

A canvas hot tent with stove significantly reduces the probability of sparks burning a hole in the roof because canvas is much thicker.  Any hot tent made of a synthetic fabric is much more prone to have spark holes in the roof.

If you decide to have a synthetic material hot tent with stove, you should have some type of tarp fly to protect your roof if using a wood stove.

It is also recommended that a fly tarp be used on a canvas tent roof.  It is much cheaper to replace a roof fly tarp than replacing a hot tent due to holes in the roof.

If using a hot tent with propane stove be very careful.  Always double check all propane fitting connections with soapy water before use.  Any propane leak will create bubbles.  A leaking propane fitting can cause death.

We have two stove models normally sold for hot tents with stove.

Wilderness tent stove with 3 different sizes. Standard model, stove, pipe, damper, shelf, rain cap spark arrestor. Deluxe model also includes a water tank and grate.

Yukon tent stove with 3 different sizes. Standard model, stove, pipe, damper, shelf, rain cap spark arrestor. Deluxe model also includes a water tank and grate.

It is recommended that you have fireproof material under any hot tent with stove. It is definite requirement in a hot tent with a synthetic floor.  A hot ember can easily fall out of the stove when the stove door is opened.  Tent floors are usually made of synthetic material and start on fire rapidly.  A roll up fireproof stove mat is available.

A hot tent with stove normally has a fireproof material on the wall next to the stove.  Stoves can get very hot. When a nylon tent wall touches a hot stove it will melt immediately or possibly catch on fire. Canvas tents are much safer than nylon tents when a wood stove is used to heat. I use a stove heat shield attached to the frame next to my canvas hot tent.  Tents billow in the wind, especially synthetic lightweight tents, and the tent wall can get dangerously close to a stove.  Some tent companies locate their stove jack where the wood stove is only 18" from the side wall. I prefer a farther spacing.  The wilderness hot tent with stove has at a minimum 22" from the sidewall. Rich 

HOT TENT WITH STOVE JACK

All of our Wilderness tents have a fire proof stove jack which allows the stove pipe to go safely through the roof.

A hot tent with stove jack should be a minimum of 18" square of fire proof material.  

Stove jacks vary in size.  Double check the stove you are purchasing to ensure the hot tent stove jack fits the stove pipe size.

A hot tent stove works more efficiently if the stove jack is located in the roof.  Stove jacks in side walls require two pipe elbows and are more difficult to set up. Additionally, stove pipes going out walls are much more likely to become disconnected, especially during windy conditions.

HOT TENT WITH FLOOR

The Wilderness canvas hot tents only have a stake in floor option.  No sewn in floor is available.

The Selkirk spike hot tent has a sewn in floor.   The Selkirk is available in 3 models:

          Selkirk, floor and frame.

          Selkirk, floor, frame and fly.

          Selkirk, floor frame, fly and stove.   

The Montana spike tent is a hot tent with floor.    

HOT TENT FOR WINTER CAMPING.

Using a hot tent for winter camping winter is quite common.

A canvas hot tent retains heat much better than nylon tents.

If winter camping in high winds you must stake your winter hot tent very securely.

If snowing, put snow around the base of your winter tent to keep cold air out and warm air in.

Insure you remove the snow from the roof of your winter hot as soon as there is any build up.  Gently raise the roof from the inside and push up until snow is removed.  Use a broom outside, if necessary, to remove remaining snow. Be careful that you do not disconnect the stove pipe from the stove when removing snow on the roof.

No canvas hot tent or nylon tent is designed to withstand heavy snow loads.  A canvas hot tent can withstand heavier snow loads than nylon tents due to the heavier frame supporting a canvas tent.  If you are leaving your canvas tent up for extended periods of time I recommend rafters every 2 feet.  However, there is no guarantee that a very heavy snow load will not collapse your tent with rafters every 2 feet.

Hi Rich, just wanted to say thanks to all of you and your staff for the help in getting my first tent. Glad I went with the 16 x 20 with the additional porch.  Spring camping is very cold at night in the high mountains I camp in. Yukon 5 stove worked great in warming tent at night. The 16 x 20 for such a large tent was very easy to set up.  The 3 of us set it up the first time in less than 30 minutes.  Set up will be quicker next time. Tyler, you will be pleased to know your wilderness tent survived some really hard Australian winter weather. Over 60 mph winds and torrential rains. It still looked brand new after the severe winter.
