Discover the Blight Curse Commander Deck

The Blight Curse Commander Deck for Lorwyn Eclipsed Magic: The Gathering immerses you in Shadowmoor's darkness, where feared boggart Auntie Ool inflicts devastating curses through -1/-1 counters transforming creatures into infinite value engines. Set in the dark universe of Jund forces (Black-Red-Green), this 100-card deck introduces Auntie Ool as legendary commander mastering curse arts, enabling infinite combos with Persist creatures like Murderous Redcap and Devoted Druid to generate unlimited mana, drain decks, or inflict lethal damage, offering Commander players a complex strategy with 12 never-before-printed cards and competitive-level strategic depth. Perfect for those loving intricate combos and control-combo strategies.

Blight Curse represents the most powerful -1/-1 counters archetype ever seen in Commander, finally uniting under a dedicated commander legendary cards that have dominated competitive formats. Auntie Ool is an infamous boggart of whom one speaks only in whispers in Shadowmoor, known for inflicting powerful curses for even the smallest transgressions. Her magical abilities enable summoning plagues wherever she desires and stabilizing wild magic into usable forms—mechanically, this translates to -1/-1 counter generation and manipulation fueling devastating combos. The deck includes synergies with The Scorpion God (draw cards when creatures die from -1/-1 counters), Hapatra Vizier of Poisons (create snake tokens for each -1/-1 counter), Yawgmoth Thran Physician (sacrifice creatures and proliferate counters), and lethal Persist combos enabling infinite loops. With Devoted Druid generating infinite mana by removing -1/-1 counters, Murderous Redcap inflicting infinite damage with Persist, and mechanics transforming disadvantages into advantages, Blight Curse offers a technically complex but incredibly rewarding Commander experience.

What are Commander Decks

Magic: The Gathering Commander Decks are preconstructed 100 singleton card decks led by a legendary creature. Each deck is ready to play immediately in multiplayer Commander format. Blight Curse offers a Jund control-combo strategy scaling from casual to competitive, with clear upgrade paths toward archetypes like Yawgmoth combo competing in Legacy and Modern.

Expansion Guide: Lorwyn Eclipsed

Blight Curse perfectly embodies Shadowmoor's darkness and chaos through the -1/-1 counters strategy most sought after by competitive Commander players. For the first time, legendary cards scattered across Jund find home under a dedicated commander unifying the archetype. Auntie Ool represents Shadowmoor's terror—a powerful boggart whose curses are feared by all dark plane inhabitants. Mechanically, the -1/-1 counters theme opens unique strategic possibilities: counters that would normally be disadvantages become resources through cards removing them for benefits (Devoted Druid tapping for unlimited mana), creatures returning infinitely (Persist with -1/-1 counters canceling +1/+1 counters), and commanders like The Scorpion God transforming counter deaths into drawn cards. Most powerful combos include: Devoted Druid + Vizier of Remedies for infinite green mana; Murderous Redcap + sacrifice outlet + Persist for infinite damage; Yawgmoth + Persist creatures to draw entire deck. The deck plays as control-combo, using -1/-1 counter-based removal to control board while assembling combo pieces, then closing games explosively with infinite loops. At casual level, the deck offers interesting gameplay with boggart tribal synergies and counter-benefiting cards. At competitive level, clear upgrade paths include efficient tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor), fast mana (Mana Crypt, Chrome Mox), and combo protection (Veil of Summer, Pact of Negation). Blight Curse represents one of the most technically complex but rewarding Commander strategies, perfect for players loving to win through intricate combos rather than combat damage, embodying Lorwyn's dark side where curses and plagues reign supreme under Isilu's moon.

Stevens wrote, "She sang beyond the genius of the sea." He did the same.
Format: Kindle
Thank you to the publisher for an ebook copy of Stevens' work. My ancient paperback copy is now retired. As for the poetry: my respectful suggestion is to read it and not feel obliged to understand it. Reading a poem isn't a contest you have to win. Let the music of the words wash over you. Float. You don't have to bring anything to this party except your willingness to be surprised, the way you're sometimes surprised, on waking, by a dream you had. Happy reading, whatever you choose to read.

Corrected and cleaned up, Stevens shines
Format: Paperback
The corrections to the text of the 1954 Collected Poems are worth paying for, but the attractive, highly readable typeface and layout make this collection pleasantly readable as well as compelling. Stevens is one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, and in his corporate pin-stripe portliness he is also an inspiration to all of us basically nerdy, tweedy, non-Beat types who hope we possess a tiny spark of poetic genius. Romantic and post-romantic poetry is an argument between imagination and reality, and no one clarifies the terms of that argument better than Stevens.

Linus's blue blanket
Format: Hardcover
Even though I'm reading the hardcover, I wrap the wonderful, wise words of W.S. Merwin around me. His poems infuse my life with an even keener sense of appreciating the "now." His words keep me in constant contact with my sense of responsibility for our planet. He's an inspiration for taking action to preserve, conserve, and plant trees, as well as recognizing the magnitude of the impact that each being carries. The geese, all animals, relationships, taking better care of the earth and each other, as well as experiencing the sorrows and the joys in life. He is dedicated to the craft of poetry and its vital role of importance in our lives. I wish I could thank him in person, but since that's not realistic, I will continue to do my best to honor him in my own way, by taking time to observe, experience, appreciate, write, take action, and reflect upon the beauty in the world and making the most of each moment. Carpe Diem!

What Merwin Thought Represented Him Best
Format: Paperback
If one volume could sum up adequately W.S. Merwin's artistic development and illustrate his place in American literature with some justice, "Migration" does the job. At least as importantly, it gives us the poet's own opinion on the poems for which he might want to be remembered, much as Nathaniel Tarn inspired Pablo Neruda to do in the selection of Neruda's poems that Tarn oversaw. I bought "Migration" at roughly the same time as and and cross-referenced his selection from those titles in "Migration" against the whole. While I still have one or two favorites that did not make the cut, I found the choices he made consistently better-inspired and more timeless than the poems that surrounded them (though overall Merwin has remained a consistent and astonishingly fine craftsman throughout his career). For those who want to go further back than Merwin's more recent books for Copper Canyon Press should not be disappointed.
