We have put together a Q&A section below that we recommend you read before your purchase:

Q. My dome has a lot of wrinkles in it.

A. Your dome is packed very compactly to keep shipping costs down. Once inflated, most of the wrinkles will gradually fade. You can speed up this process by setting up your dome in the sun for an hour or so before use. We have included an over-sized storage bag that will greatly reduce winkles during storage.

Q. Can I use my other FX star discs in the FX Dome?

A. Yes, but the results will be poor. Because the projected image is now very close to the dome, the image will be too bright and appear “washed out”.

Q. What is the advantage of using the FX-Dome over just projecting it in a room?

A. With projection into a room, you have many references for your surroundings, such as light fixtures, wall hangings, furniture, etc.; so you don’t have the same feeling as looking up at the night sky. Projection in the dome, without such distractions, offers a more realistic view of the night sky!

Q. Can I use a different fan rather than a 20” box fan?

A. It is possible to use a different fan but the results may not be optimal. Inflation maybe inefficient with the dome not inflating correctly or completely.

Q. Can I use other star projectors in the FX-Dome?

A. Yes, but the results will be poor for several reasons. First, the projected image will not be very big in the dome. Second, the image will mostly likely be too bright and “washed out”.

Q How much room space do I need to set up the FX-Dome?

A. The minimum area is 8’ x 8’ plus the area for the fan.

Q. Can I use the FX-Dome outside?

A. It is not recommended for outdoor use in the sun. The interior of the FX-Dome will become way too hot if used in the sun. It can be used outside at night with little or no wind.

Q. Can I use my dome in a brightly lit room or daylight?

A. For the best experience, we recommended that the dome be used in a room with low light levels.

Q. Is there anything I should worry about when using the FX-Dome?

A. The FX-Dome requires adult supervision for ages under 13 years under. There is Absolutely No Sleeping In The Dome Permitted. If there is a power failure, the dome will slowly deflate. Injury or suffocation could occur if occupants are too young or asleep and do not exit the dome.

Q. Can the DS1 or the non FX Zoom be used in the dome?

A.  Yes but the results will be very poor and not recommended as the projected image will be very small.
