Philodendron El Choco Red is a captivating tropical plant renowned for its large, heart-shaped leaves with velvety textures and striking red undersides. Native to the rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador, this climbing aroid adds a touch of exotic elegance to indoor spaces.

Care Guidelines:

  • Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light levels, optimal growth and vibrant foliage are achieved with ample indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorching.

  • Watering: Maintain consistently moist soil, allowing the top inch to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot; ensure the pot has proper drainage.

  • Humidity: Prefers high humidity levels, ideally above 60%. Increase humidity by misting the leaves, using a humidifier, or placing the plant on a tray filled with water and pebbles.

  • Temperature: Favors temperatures between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Protect from cold drafts and avoid exposure to temperatures below 55°F (13°C).

  • Soil: Requires a well-draining, airy potting mix rich in organic matter. A blend of potting soil, orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal is suitable.

  • Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), feed monthly with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer at half strength. Reduce feeding during fall and winter when growth slows.

  • Support: As a climbing plant, providing a moss pole or trellis encourages vertical growth and supports larger leaf development.

Not for gnawers
Size: 11.5 in, Color: Bear
I was hoping this would work for my teenage ACD and save my leather goods from being chewed on. He gnawed on it quietly I was thrilled. But I had to take it from him within a few minutes. Gnawing apparently equals chewing pieces off. Not made for chewers or gnawers. It seemed to be well made, was soft, was actually a fairly good size and didn’t get gross when it got spitty. Just didn’t work out for Captain chaos destructor of all.

It's tough!
This chew toy has held up well. Yes, the squeaker did succumb eventually. Yes, my dog was able to eventually chew pieces from it. However, it has lasted longer than any other chew toy we have purchased other than the Nylabone type. I even bought several for family members who have dogs.

A bit heavy, so mind the sizing. Good though.
My dog is a relentless chewing Jock. He's 11 lbs of Chi X and runs and chews until he's exhausted. I got the 6" for him and it's a bit heavy. He already unraveled and ate the string tape, so I braided and knotted it. He likes it when I can get him to chase it. I'd get a 4" if I were to do it again. It's a great well made product that really let's him get a good chew on.

Pup’s new favorite chew toy!
My son let one of my pups have a corn cob, which my dog enjoyed immensely. However, son got scolded as these can be very dangerous to dogs, and I disappointed my pup by taking it away. I went to Amazon to see if, by chance, a dog toy existed that was a corn cob. And there we found this- the new favorite of MANY chew toys for my medium size aggressive chewers. I bought two, one for each. They enjoyed “tug-a-war” due to the handy rope end. It squeaks. It’s strong and well made. It’s by far their favorite chew toy. I did store them in the fridge prior to giving them and pretended to eat them to make the pups think they were “real”. The package says they are dog toothbrushes, so a good benefit there as well. I’m sure we will be getting these regularly.
