Light
▾Thrives in full sun to bright indirect light. To maintain the crisp white and deep blue contrast of the 'Night Sky' pattern, provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. In extreme summer heat, light afternoon shade helps prevent petal scorch.
Watering
▾Keep soil consistently moist but never soggy. During the germination phase, ensure the topsoil does not dry out. Mature vines are moderately drought-tolerant but flower much better with a regular watering schedule.
Soil & Sowing
▾Sow seeds 0.5 to 1 inch deep in a well-draining, fertile mix. We strongly recommend pre-soaking seeds in lukewarm water for 12–24 hours before sowing to break dormancy. Germination typically occurs within 10–15 days.
Feeding & Fertilization
▾Being a legume, 'Night Sky' fixes its own nitrogen. Over-fertilizing with high-nitrogen feeds will result in lush green leaves but fewer variegated flowers. Use a phosphorus-rich organic feed or bone meal once a month during the blooming season.
Pruning & Training
▾As a twining climber, provide a trellis, mesh, or fence for support early on. Pinch off the growing tips when the plant is roughly 1 foot tall to encourage lateral branching, which leads to more flowering sites.
Flowers Appearing Solid White or Blue
▾Environmental stress (extreme heat or low light) can sometimes affect the splash pattern. Ensure the plant is getting enough sunlight and consistent nutrients to restore the variegation in new buds.
Seedlings Damping Off
▾This is usually due to cold, wet soil. Ensure your seed-starting mix is warm and well-draining, and avoid over-misting the seedlings once they have sprouted.
